Welcome to the South Calgary Recreational Hockey League!
Since 2006, the South Calgary Recreational Hockey League (SCRHL) has been Calgary's answer to refereed, non-checking, and non-slapshot recreational hockey aimed at adults aged 19 to 55+ who would like to play weekday morning and/or weekend evening hockey games one to two times per week for recreation, fun, and fitness.

MORNING WEEKDAY GAMES (FALL 2013 & WINTER 2014)
LOCATION & SCHEDULE:
The SCRHL Morning Fall 2013 & Winter 2014 Season runs from September 9th, 2013 to April 30th, 2014 (inclusive) at South Fish Creek Recreation Association (#100, 333 Shawville Boulevard S.E.) and Trico Centre (11150 Bonaventure Drive S.E.). All regular season games run from 6:30am to 7:30am (Monday to Friday) and are officiated by one referee. All playoff games in April 2014 will be officiated by two referees.
FEES (INDIVIDUALS DIVISION): Due July 31st, 2013 The cost to play in Morning Fall 2013 & Winter 2014 for individual, non-goalie players is $460 per non-goalie player for 40 to 44 regular-season and playoff games between September 9th, 2013 and April 30th, 2014 (inclusive). Non-goalie, individual players may make two separate payments of $240 by July 31st, 2013 and $240 by November 30th, 2013, as well. However, paying the full $460 will save non-goalie players $20. Goalies play for free.
Registered individuals will be drafted onto teams in their own division. Groups of up to four players may be drafted together (goalies included). If you would like a group of more than four friends to remain together, then it's suggested that you register as a team in the teams division, find additional players, and pay the team rate -- see FEES (TEAMS DIVISION) below.
FEES (TEAMS DIVISION): Due Jul 31st, 2013
The cost to play in Morning Fall 2013 & Winter 2014 for teams is $6800 per team for 40 to 44 regular-season and playoff games between September 9th, 2013 and April 30th, 2014 (inclusive). Team captains may make two separate payments of $3500 by July 31st, 2013 and $3500 by November 30th, 2013, as well. However, paying the full $6800 will save the team $200.
REGISTRATION AND FEE PAYMENT PROCESS:
If you are an individual who would like to register for Morning Fall 2013 & Winter 2014 (Individuals Division), then please submit the individual player online registration form under "Registration - Individual". Non-goalies can pay online via PayPal or contact the league manager (Grant Caswell, 403-703-1136, southcalgaryrechockey@shaw.ca) to pay by other means. Goalies only need to complete the registration form.
If you are a team captain who would like to register his/her team for Morning Fall 2013 & Winter 2014 (Teams Division), then please submit the team online registration form under "Registration - Team". Teams can pay online via Paypal or contact the league manager (Grant Caswell, 403-703-1136, southcalgaryrechockey@shaw.ca) to pay by other means.
EVENING WEEKEND GAMES (FALL 2013 & WINTER 2014)

The SCRHL Evening Fall 2013 & Winter 2014 Season runs from September 13th, 2013 to May 2nd, 2014 (inclusive) at Trico Centre (11150 Bonaventure Drive S.E.). All regular season games run from 11:30pm-12:30am (Friday and Saturday nights) and are officiated by one referee. All playoff games in late April / early May 2014 will be officiated by two referees.

BACKGROUND:
Since September 2006, the South Calgary Recreational Hockey League (SCRHL) has provided weekly ice time schedules, qualified referees, a safe playing environment, and Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association (CARHA) liability coverage to players aged 19 and older who are interested in playing weekly, morning recreational hockey in Calgary, Alberta. Since January 2012, the SCRHL has also offered weekend evening games.
GAME LOCATIONS:
South Fish Creek Recreation Association (#100, 333 Shawville Blvd S.E.) Trico Centre Complex (11150 Bonaventure Dr S.E.) PLAYER INSURANCE: All players are covered under insurance obtained from the Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association (CARHA) when they are registered as regulars or spares in the SCRHL. In addition to regular ice hockey equipment, players must wear some sort of facial protection while on the ice (either a half-shield with mouthguard or a full face cage without mouthguard). Goalies also cannot wear "cat's eye" masks. If non-goalie players choose to participate without facial protection or goalies choose to play with "cat's eye" masks, then any facial injury sustained during a SCRHL game will not be covered by CARHA's insurance. Therefore, players are encouraged to play safe with appropriate facial protection. PLAYER CALIBRE:
Most of the individuals who play in this league are in their early-30's to late-40's, however, all of the players' ages cover a broad range from 19 to 55+. Also, the experience level of the players is rather diverse -- from novice to somewhat experienced. So, overall, it's definitely more of a senior league, but the calibre of play is still fun and competitive with an emphasis on good sportsmanship. Basically, the aim of this league is get some exercise, enjoy a game of non-checking hockey without slapshots, make some friends / business contacts, and have fun in the process before you go to work in the weekday morning or pub in the weekend evening. LEAGUE BENEFITS: Regarding the use of your fees, they cover the costs of the following items:
1) Arena ice rentals
2) Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association (CARHA) player and referee insurance 3) Referees
4) Restaurant / Pub gift certificates for both playoff finalist teams of each season ($500 total)
5) Discount cards and promotional items from SCRHL sponsors
